30 YEARS OF SUMMERSLAM

FULL REVIEW: WWE '30 Years of SummerSlam' DVD – New Release In ...

Good Morning Wrestling fans and Collectors: It’s Your pal “The Bodybender”,with another Classic Pro Wrestling Dvd Review. This Sunday is SummerSlam and so with that going on. I thought I would do a review on the 30 Years of Summer Slam Dvd.

Amazon.com: WWE: 30 Years of SummerSlam (DVD): Various, Various ...

This is a Great set, with a great Cover and really well done Back and Spine, which you will see. If there is only one thing I do not like- is WWE , Started putting all the Discs on top of each other, and we see things Cheapening from their end. This was released in 2018-to much fanfare and is 8 hours and 40 minutes of Summer Slam’s Best Matches. I cannot fault any of them, it’s an excellent set and worth adding to your Collection. I am currently up to date with Every Summer Slam individually as well, including the 20 Dvd set. You have Gene Okerlund doing the Reports and Re Caps for the Set. Disc 1-Highlights include Ultimate Warrior Winning the IC Belt from Honky and the Hart Foundation vs Demolition and it was great seeing Bret vs Bulldog and Bret vs Owen in the Cage, you saw how Bret and Owen protected each other even in a Steel Cage match , it was classic.

Disc 2-Highlights included Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kurt Angle in a Bloody Brawl ,Shawn Michaels vs Triple H In their unsanctioned match which was amazing. ,and Hulk Hogan vs Shawn Michaels. On Disc 3 The best match was Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks from 2016-for the Women’s Championship. I know they cannot show everything, but the Promo’s for Hulk Hogan vs Shawn Michaels were Hilarious I wish they would have shown them. But you should easily be able to find this set and it’s selling on Ebay for 16.24 it’s still pretty expensive after a few Years, I saw it as High as 58.00. I would not pay that much for it though. This set is one for the Ages, and Summer Slam is and will always be one of my favorite Pay Per View’s , more the Classic’s than what we see today.

I hope you enjoy this Week’s Blog and and Thank you as always for Visiting. This week’s add’s have been slim, trying to find the Extreme Rules 2020 (Horror Show) Dvd. You will see so many prices for the Dvd’s , do not Overpay for what you want.

Update on Renee Young’s WWE exit, talk about her going to AEW

By

Paul Davis Published on August 21, 2020

Renee Young is set to finish up with WWE this weekend. Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that she gave notice last week.

As previously noted, WWE was not happy about her going public with her COVID-19 diagnosis. Meltzer added that it was several days after her diagnosis that a company official talked to her when she had the virus.

Young will likely draw interest from several places, including All Elite Wrestling. That is not only because her husband Jon Moxley works there. Everyone recognizes that she is a fantastic interviewer/broadcaster and performed above and beyond what she was expected to in WWE’s heavily-scripted and micro-managed environment.

Meltzer noted in the Observer that one person to the situation said it would be inevitable that Young would host something or do something for AEW but there is no deal at this time. If she does something with AEW, it probably won’t be soon because her WWE announcing deal has a serious non-compete clause.

In addition to announcing, she’s been working on a cookbook and she’s interested in sports, talk shows, comedy shows or podcast shows among many things. She has also done minor acting roles in the past.

Former ROH World Champion Xavier has passed away

By

Paul Davis Published on August 16, 2020

PWInsider is reporting that former Ring Of Honor World Champion Xavier, real name John Kirius, has passed away at the age of 43.

There aren’t many details available right now on the circumstances behind his passing.

Xavier wrestled in ROH from 2002 until 2004 and at various points in 2006 and 2007. He trained under Tony Devito before debuting on the independent scene in 1995. Xavier also wrestled for several independent promotions that were primarily based in the northeast.

Xavier was set to return in March for ROH’s “Past vs. Present” show but those plans were halted because of the pandemic.

We will pass along more information if we hear more details on his passing. We send along condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.

Many top WWE stars have asked about going to AEW, Dave Meltzer on if Roman Reigns would leave WWE

By

Paul Davis Published on August 16, 2020

During the mailbag portion of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked about some of the current WWE stars who might be considering going to AEW when their contracts are up. Meltzer was specifically asked if names like Roman Reigns, Ricochet, Will Ospreay, Kota Ibushi and Don Callis might make their way to AEW when their contracts are up. Those were the names mentioned by Chris Jericho on a “Saturday Night Special” when he was asked who he would like to see on the AEW roster.

Meltzer felt that it would be smart for Ricochet to leave WWE but he doesn’t know when his contract is up. As far as Reigns leaving WWE and jumping to AEW, that is not happening.

Meltzer said, “Roman Reigns is not going to AEW, not happening. Of all of the guys, virtually everybody in WWE including guys who have claimed different, at one point or another have called people in AEW trying to see what they can get or have had an interest. Roman Reigns and there’s a couple of others but Roman Reigns is basically, of the top guys, he was the only one who never even inquired so he ain’t going anywhere.”

It’s no secret that Randy Orton spoke with people in AEW last year before signing his 5-year WWE contract. Edge also spoke with people in AEW and then went back with WWE to let them know that there was a deal on the table.

Meltzer noted that Ospreay is under contract to New Japan and it would be up to Tony Khan and Harold Meij to make a deal and Jericho really wants to bring Ospreay in. Ospreay really likes Japan and doesn’t want to work much in the United States so even if a deal is made at some point, he probably won’t be working much in the States. Ibushi could work shows for AEW if a deal is worked out with New Japan.

Impact Wrestling executive Don Callis doesn’t look like a possibility right now, according to Meltzer.
